There was a segment on NPR a few months ago about how precious time is. If we assume an average life expectancy of 75 years, then we have 3750 saturdays to live. The guy on the radio took this a step further and at the age of 55 went to a toy store and purhased 1000 marbles. Every following saturday he pulled one out of the basket he kept them in and threw it in the trash. And while they slowly disappeared he had a real life reminder of how precious life was and e took advantage of every single saturday he had. perhaps something you and i should consider :) we only have 2500 marbles left...
I heard about this too, at SRF I think. I think it's a great way to visualize how precious life is. But something to keep in mind: that's a best-case scenario. We can't assume that we're all going to live to 75. We might only have 3 marbles to play with. Or 3000. There's no way to know. How does that change how we live our lives?
i completely understand where you are coming from, and we can definitely mention that the number of marbles is different for everyone. however, the key element here is definitely the focus on time passing us by and that the marbles we toss away are gone for good.
